Most people have used key chains to wear a bunch of keys. They are bright, convenient and eye-catching. Key fobs have a few different functions. A key fob is not just an accessory, but is an access pass, a key, an electronic wallet, etc. Due to its design features, such a key fob cannot be given any shape. However, it can still be unique. We will discuss it in this article.
Various shapes and sizes
Each SMARTTAG® RFID key fob has a chip and antenna inside. They are what make a key fob signal stable and clear. One of the most important features is the constant crystal size, the number of antenna turns and the distance between them. Changing any of the characteristics will make the device fail. Therefore, their size and shape can vary only slightly. However, we have found a solution and offer our customers several different options at once.
- Key fobs with rectangular design
Most key fobs have a rectangular design. They resemble standard plastic smart cards, but differ from them in size. They are smaller, stronger and easier to use.
The key fob is only 51 mm long, 24.66 mm wide and 3.84 mm thick. This design makes it easy to attach to the keys and always carry it with you. Its rounded edges don't cling to anything.
- Key fobs with teardrop-shaped design
This is a very unusual and eye-catching model. This plastic key fob is even smaller than a rectangular model. It is 42 mm long and 26 mm wide. All key fobs have a standard thickness.
This RFID key fob is smooth and streamlined. It has a chip and an antenna inside, too. However, they are installed in such a position that the size of the key fob does not disrupt the RF signal or affect the chip operation.
- Key fobs with oval-shaped design
This is our newest model that we have recently designed. However, it has already become popular among a great number of our customers. Smooth edges, protective coating, and exquisite design are always hot trends. This model is larger than a teardrop-shaped one. It is 45mm long and 25mm wide. Therefore, it can be printed with more symbols.
Note that the chip and antenna inside the key fob are positioned in accordance with its design. This makes the RF signal perfectly readable.
- New! Transparent key fobs
SMARTTAG® key fobs, as well as smart cards, are made of plastic. Therefore, the same decorative elements and customization are available for them. More customers are ordering exquisite solutions. We have noticed that most customers prefer transparent plastic cards.
Our completely transparent colored SMARTTAG® Caramel key fobs have the same design. They look like bright caramel drops. They can be printed with a company logo if necessary. Or we may leave them unchanged for their owners to see their whole “stuffing”.
We offer small rectangular key fobs in several colors. The palette is available in 6 colors: pink, red, navy blue, light blue, green, and colorless.
The external design of a transparent rectangular RFID key fob does not affect its operation. The size remains unchanged.

All key fobs can be branded and have their own unique design. It is enough to design a layout, including color scheme, customization and decorative elements You can do it yourself or order from our designers. Provide us with images, text boxes, and a color scheme of the future key fob. If you want to use an your corporate identity, just provide us with your brand book.
SMARTTAG® key fob advantages
Our RFID key fob have become stronger because of a special polyurethane resin coating. It cures on the key fob surface and adheres securely to it. Resin of European quality fully complies with all safety requirements. It does not cause allergies. Therefore, both children and adults can use the SMARTTAG® chip key fob every day.
The coating is durable, waterproof, heat resistant and can withstand enormous pressure (about half a ton). The resin is completely transparent, and does not distort colors.
Copying the RFID key fob design, its unique shape and electronic tag encoding is very time-consuming and expensive. Therefore, you can be sure that noone will ever be able to counterfeit it.
However, if you think that such protection is not enough, we suggest you increase its level. To do this, it's enough to place highly protected tag in your key fob. Such chip brands as NXP Mifare Plus, DESFire, Ultralight use the reliable AES encryption algorithm, which protects all data written to memory. E. g., the Mifare Plus SE 1k 7 byte UID key fob, or the Mifare Ultralight EV1 7 byte UID guarantee high security of the access control system.
